About this campground
Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost is more than a campground—it’s a true Alaska experience in the heart of historic Chicken. Located just off the Taylor Highway, the campground sits on the site of a 1930s gold camp overlooking the Chicken Creek Valley.
The campground offers electric RV sites, dry RV and tent camping, pull-through sites and cabins. Guests have access to hot showers, potable water, a dump station, Wi-Fi, picnic tables and fire rings.
This is gold country, and you can experience it firsthand. Pan for gold right at the campground, tour the historic Pedro Dredge and mining museum, or head out to nearby claims for recreational gold prospecting. Whatever gold you find is yours to keep.
Stop into the Chicken Creek Outpost for espresso, fresh-baked treats, food and Alaska-made gifts, or just relax and take in the wide-open Interior Alaska scenery. Chicken Gold Camp is also home to the annual Chickenstock Music Festival.
